You may or may not have heard his name before, but Roger Deakins is the Cinematographer behind some of the most beautifully shot films in the last couple decades. Let’s get some inspiration from his 2015 film, Sicario.
Whether it’s the blazing hot, violent mid-day scenes or the soft pastel moments of twilight, Sicario takes us on a visual journey and acts as the perfect setting for a brutal story. As a visual artist/photographer studying this film, any films actually, can teach us so much about how to better convey OUR story in our images. Be it through use of colors, lighting, or mood, Roger Deakins is nothing short of masterful in creating completely believable worlds for the characters to live in.
